The Summer 2023 issue of Food & Dining Magazine — our 20th Anniversary issue — is now available in all the familiar places: Louisville area eateries and food shops, newsstands and online.

Uncle D’s Franks opened in Fern Creek last December, offering a family-friendly atmosphere and bill of fare, and specializing in hand-dipped corndogs cooked in honey, bacon or jalapeño batter, as well as a variety of stacked franks.

Uncle D’s Franks is open in Fern Creek

With the bricks and mortar location gone, Uncle D’s owners Detrick and Lindsey Prentice are examining food truck possibilities and have started a GoFundMe in support of an envisioned mobile franks flip.

The text:

Good morning.

We are devastated to say that we are going to have to close our store.

With this economy, inflation (we’ve literally watched the prices rise every week for weeks), and us not wanting to sell people way over priced food, we aren’t making enough money to sustain. More or less many of the other hardships that we’ve faced since opening. Having to get the hood really put us in a tough position and prevented us from getting our building sign. There is a whole list of things I could explain.

Unless someone out there would like to invest or back us, we don’t have any options.
This was our dream and we made it happen. We are proud of the food we made and know we had a good idea, but we were dealt a few unexpected cards that weren’t in our favor. We are so thankful for everyone who came out and supported us. Getting to know the community and having so many repeat customers meant so much to us!

We will be open the next couple of days to sell out of our stock. Please come see us!!
