Louisville’s location of HopCat (1064 Bardstown Road), an expansive shrine to craft beer that’s a “beer bar” in the same way the Rolling Stones are a “rock band” and LeBron James is a “basketball player,” opened in the summer of 2016.
However on Friday the HopCat chain ended a brief experiment with carryout-only sales and announced that all branches (16 or 17, depending on the source) will close for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Once we all make it through this nightmare (and we will!) we will move as fast as we can to hire back our awesome and loving people so we can get back to serving great beer and food to our guests. In the meantime, make sure you show love and take care of each other. This is difficult for all but has hit the service industry especially hard. Thank you for your years of patronage. If you pour one out for HopCat today, you better be ready to have a celebratory pint with us once we open back up!!
Food & Dining Magazine took a look at HopCat in the winter of 2017.
