In February of 2021, Another Place Sandwich Shop (119 S. 7th St.; street level) closed following a half-century of downtown Louisville trade in sustenance.

In March, Jimmy Can’t Dance followed suit; it had been doing business in Another Place’s basement since 2017.

Later in 2021, changes came to these two vacant spaces. Against the Grain Brewery (AtG) opened The Flamingo Lounge downstairs (where Jimmy used to be), then added its AtG Sandwich Emporium upstairs at the Another Place footprint.

By late summer of 2022, both of these concepts were gone, and AtG revealed plans to embrace the cellar as special events space.

Fast forwarding to RIGHT NOW, The Misfit Lou is up and running where Another Place used to be, while Jimmy’s Flamingo Cellar Room has been repurposed as The Hereafter. At Louisville Business First, Michael L. Jones endeavors to explain all of this. Today’s cover photo credit goes to Dominique Tolley.

The Hereafter opens in former Jimmy Can’t Dance space in Downtown Louisville

Husband-and-wife duo Martin Svab and Ryan Hughes-Svab are replacing the sandwich shop and jazz club with Misfit Lou, a new beer bar, and the Hereafter, a 19th century-inspired cocktail parlor.

The Hereafter opened in the Jimmy Can’t Dance space on Wednesday, Nov. 29. It offers draft beers, wine, charcuterie and small bites, and it’s open Wednesday through Saturday starting at 5 p.m. Prices range from $5 to $14.
