Add Breadworks to a sadly growing list of longstanding Louisville independent food and drink businesses coming to the end of the line.
The pandemic put a hit on the Breadworks wholesale bakery, and then the ongoing and well documented employee shortage hampered retail operations.

Since 1995, Breadworks has been baking artisan breads, kettle-boiled bagels, and pastries, but after 26 years, the local bakery is closing the oven door for good + joining our most missed businesses list.
The final day for its locations at Douglas Loop (2204 Dundee Rd.) and Chenoweth Plaza (3628 Brownsboro Rd.) will be Sun., Sept. 18, but both shops will be open daily from 7 a.m.-12 p.m.

Matt Grammer, owner and CEO of Kentucky Counseling Center, has already leased the more than 1,200 square foot Breadworks location at Douglas Loop. He intends to open Dad’s Coffee Shop there with his wife Amy and in-laws Paul and Lucy Wathen.
