Sara Gibbs, Chef Ouita Michel and Genie Graf, by the cookbook’s illustrator Brenna Flannery

Chef Ouita Michel featured prominently in Monday’s culinary news cycle, as she has authored her first cookbook with collaborators Sara Gibbs and Genie Graf.

Just a Few Miles South: Timeless Recipes from our Favorite Places is six years in the making and features recipes that Michel broke down into family size portions, then sent to friends for testing at home.

The story of the cookbook’s creation, as well as information about how you can get your own copy (publication comes in April, 2021), is comprehensively told at the Lexington Herald Leader by writer Jacalyn Carfagno

“Just a Few Miles South: Timeless Recipes from our Favorite Places” includes more than 150 recipes from Windy Corner Market, Wallace Station, Zim’s, The Midway Bakery and Smithtown Seafood and the stories of how each was launched and the people who made them work.
