This weekend, starting today, Friday, Aug. 18 at 3 p.m.  and continuing through Sunday, Gravely Brewing Co., 514 Baxter Ave. will celebrate its grand opening. The renovation of the former Pride Tile building into a crisp new brewery operation has been in process since last February.
The interior of the building incorporates vintage musical instruments to give the place its own character. Gravely and his wife, Holly Gravely, are partners in the business with Cory and Kelly Buenning. Nathaniel Gravely and Cory Buenning are brothers-in-law. Buenning’s background is in brewing, and Gravely has worked in the music business.
Gravely intends to distinguish itself in the ongoing brewery expansion by providing both good beer and live music performances. The live music part of the business will kick in this fall, after the beer aspect has established itself in the market.
Gravely has partnered with Bruce Ucan of The Mayan Café to provide food at the brewery via a food truck, dubbed Mayan Street Food, which will serve snacks like guacamole and fried plantains as well as tacos and salbutes to hungry beer sippers.
