Everyone’s favorite glossy magazine, with the best title ever, Garden & Gun, has a list in their August-September issue of “The Best Bourbon Bars in the South. They name 6 all told, and two are in Kentucky. Their Louisville selection is Haymarket Whiskey Bar. 331 E. Market St.
Noting that Haymarket carries up to 10 brands of Bourbon, the editors do not locate it quite correctly, claiming it is “housed in a nineteenth-century building on old Whiskey Row.” Other than that, it’s assessment is fairly accurate. You can see the whole list here.
Lexington’s Bluegrass Tavern is the other Kentucky choice. Bars in other cities include Nashville, Tenn.; Austin, Texas; Washington, D.C.; and Chapel Hill, N.C.
