Two relatively new Louisville restaurants have announced plans for expansion with additional locations. Joy Luck, the Taiwanese-focused Chinese restaurant at 1285 Bardstown Rd., has been greeted with enough enthusiasm for the owner, Alvin Lin, to open a second location in the East End, at 9850 Von Allmen Ct. #101.
According to a report in the Courier-Journal, the Von Allmen Ct. site was where the Lin family had hoped to open originally. But that site was not finished when the Lins were ready to open a business, so they opened on Bardstown Rd. instead. The development on Von Allmen is now ready for tenants, a location Lin thinks is ripe for their take on Asian food and craft cocktails, which has done well in the Highlands.
The two locations will share a menu, with the intention of developing a brunch menu with authentic Taiwanese brunch dishes. Lin is shooting for a spring opening of the new location.
And Tony Palombino’s newest venture, in Nashville-style “hot chicken” at Joella’s Hot Chicken, 3400 Frankfort Ave., has been so immediately popular that Palombino is planning on expanding locally with an outlet in Middletown, and also traveling the concept to Lexington and Indianapolis. Palombino hopes to have the Middletown store open by January, and develop the out-of-town locations later in 2016.
