Milano Italian Restaurant’s original location in Shelbyville (1745 Midland Trail) dates to 2000, with a second restaurant in Mount Washington (9180 Hwy 44 E) opening in 2018.
As Dahlia Ghabour reported in the Louisville Courier Journal , another round of ambitious expansion is under way for Milano.
This family-owned Italian restaurant with two Kentucky locations is opening in Louisville
Milano Italian Restaurant will open in east Louisville at 11300 Westport Road in late April or early May owner Jonathan Balderas told the Courier Journal.
Milano’s foundation is grandma’s recipe card file.
The extensive menu at Milano features items like calzones, thick- and thin-crust pizzas, pasta and more than a dozen house specials.
Balderas said the food at Milano stands out because every dish on the menu is made from scratch from his grandmother Alicia’s recipes.
“We are known for our homemade Italian cuisine,” he said. “All the food is made with her recipes, nothing is frozen. We make our own dough, sauce, and every single dressing in house. We cook everything fresh and give customers what they pay for.”
Balderas seeks to open a fourth location in Louisville by year’s end.
Milano Italian Restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. during the week and 11 a.m. to 10:30 on weekends. Online ordering, curbside pickup, and close-by delivery will be available.
