Science Hill Inn chef Ellen Gill McCarty recently benefited from the APRON fund, which provides temporary financial assistance to restaurant workers facing medical crises. “Having the help of APRON was unbelievable and I want to give back to my fellow friends in the industry,” McCarty said in a press release.
That assistance will be an APRON fund-raising Sunday, Sept 27, at Science Hill Inn, 525 Washington St.,Shelbyville, a Sunday Supper featuring Southern comfort food prepared by McCarty and her staff.
The 4-course meal and wine pairing will include passed appetizers served with a Planters Punch in courtyard featuring live music and Supper Club Trivia. Dinner will feature bacon-wrapped meatloaf with maple-apple reduction (there will be a vegetarian option) and Bourbon bread pudding for dessert. This is the third “foodie series” event at Science Hill, “From Peru to Lou with Love” hosted by local event planner Jo Self who now lives in Peru, and Das Meal, a German feast.
Sunday Super starts with cocktails in the courtyard at 4:45-6 p.m., followed by dinner at 6. The dinner and drinks will be $60. Call (502) 633-2825.
