According to an information release, today (July 17) is the grand opening of Monk’s Road Boiler House at 131 W. Main Street in downtown Louisville.
The restaurant and tasting room comes to you from the Log Still Distillery in Nelson County, maker of the Monk’s Road line of Kentucky bourbons and gins, as well as the Rattle & Snap Tennessee Whiskey line.
(While the release specifies hours of 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. today, I’m assuming this refers only to the ribbon-cutting festivities, toasts and speeches by requisite dignitaries. As of 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, the Facebook page makes no reference to the actual business hours; it may be wise to call and get the scoop, although I can’t find a phone number, either. If more information comes our way, I’ll return and update this section.)
The prospectus:
Monk’s Road Boiler House on Whiskey Row features a luxury chophouse-style menu curated by Chef Ciro Matteo Pirozzi, and highlights Monk’s Road Bourbons & Gins and Rattle & Snap Tennessee Whiskeys. The two-level venue offers fine dining cuisine on the upper tier and a speakeasy-style bar on the lower for tastings and curated bourbon experiences.
Aficionados will note the birth of a new single barrel pick.
To celebrate its new home in Downtown Louisville, Log Still Distillery invited dignitaries and representatives from various Downtown Louisville organizations to create a special single barrel pick. This single barrel, a 120 Proof High Rye bourbon, will be available exclusively at Monk’s Road Boiler House.
