It was a month ago Monday when the first official case of COVID-19 was reported in Kentucky. By St. Patrick’s Day, APRON Inc. had launched an emergency fund to help restaurant employees in the weeds.

On Tuesday APRON released information about the progress of its program to date, and the news is very encouraging. Here’s APRON’s statement.

Thanks to the amazing generosity of our community and with corporate donations, APRON has helped 182 families breathe a little easier — in just two short weeks. This is just the beginning!
We have another 200 applications about to be approved (and more arriving everyday) as soon as we can fund them.

The liquor industry has always been a big supporter of APRON and now is no exception. A huge thank you goes out to Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits and their suppliers for a $30,000 donation — and to Republic National Distributing Company-Kentucky and their suppliers for a $20,500 donation. We thank each and every one of you who has written a check or donated through our website- your money goes directly to the restaurant employees.Thank you so much to The Community Foundation of Louisville and the One Louisville Covid-19 Response Fund who awarded us a very generous grant of $25,000, which has already been distributed to 50 needy grantees.
