It will be beer from Apocalypse Brew Works, cocktails from Copper & Kings, and plenty of food to sample and vote for at the third annual Butchertown Porktoberfest, Friday, Oct. 9, 5-10 p.m. at Copper & Kings Brandy Distillery, 1111 E. Washington St., a venue that will allow it to proceed, rain or shine.
The culinary competition has categories for People’s Choice, Best Overall Pork, Best Vegetarian, Most Creative, and Best Dessert. You can sample everything and help the selected judges vote for the best. Music will be provided by Relic.
Among the food purveyors will be several not-yet-opened businesses that will be offering pre-opening samples of what they will be about, including Royals Hot Chicken, Red Hog Tapas and Commonwealth Cure.
Last year’s Porktoberfest winners, Holy Grale for Best Overall Pork; Gralehaus for People’s Choice; Feast for Most Creative and Best Dessert; and Wiltshire for Best Vegetarian will be defending their titles. Toonerville Deli, Rye and Galaxie Bar will also be in the competition.
Admission is $2 and includes one food sample. All proceeds from food and beverage tickets benefit the Butchertown Neighborhood Association.
