Larry Davis is the founder of Derby City Pizza, and he tells his story here.
It all started back in 1991 when I was only 15. I took a job making pizza at a local pizza chain to help support my family, and I’ve been a successful restaurateur fascinated with pizza ever since.
Having previously planted a flag in Southern Indiana with the New Albany branch in 2023, Davis and Derby City Pizza will continue their SoIN expansion campaign with a restaurant coming soon to Jeffersonville.
When operational, Derby City Pizza’s Jeffersonville outlet on 10th Street will be its eighth location in F&D’s Louisville metro coverage area, with another one in Mt. Washington, making nine.

A Derby City Pizza location is coming to Jeffersonville. The restaurant will be at 2976 E. 10th St., where a Pizza Hut previously was. It will have outdoor seating.

David admits he’s considered franchising, but said he hears dollar signs when prospective franchisees call, and that’s not what he wants his company to be about. “We’ve already got the things down that we would be paying them to do,” Davis said. “Because of my franchise history, I kind of went off that experience. It would almost be a turn-key if I did that.
