An idea that has had a long gestation is soon to be a-borning at North End Cafe’s Highland location at 2116 Bardstown Rd. Chef and operating partner Christopher Seckman will turn the restaurant’s under-used banquet room into North End Slice, a walk-up-and-order pizza by the slice outlet. The new concept will sell New York style pizza sold both by the slice and by the 14- or 20-inch pie at a walk-up counter. North End Slice will be accessible directly from the street, or from the current restaurant. The space will have seating for about two dozen people, and have its own pizza oven.
As reported by Insider Louisville, Seckman and his partners have been discussing the idea for a pizza place for a while. They decided that the banquet space at the Highlands restaurant, with a size that did not seem right for the clientele it was attracting, was being used too infrequently. The pizza operation will put that space to use on a daily basis.
