The Summer 2023 issue of Food & Dining Magazine — our 20th Anniversary issue — is now available in all the familiar places: Louisville area eateries and food shops, newsstands and online.

Jake and Elwood’s, the pizzeria that three years ago revived the long-time home of Clifton’s Pizza at 2230 Frankfort Avenue, has ceased operations, effective immediately.

As our colleague Kevin Gibson notes at his web site, Jake and Elwood’s “featured deep-dish Chicago-style pizza, as well as Chicago-style sausages, Italian beef sandwiches and more.”

The text: “To all of our customers, friends and family: It is with a saddened heart I must inform you that effectively immediately Jake & Elwood’s will permanently be closed. It has been a real joy getting to know all of you and being a member of the Clifton and greater Louisville community. Thanks for all the memories!”

Here’s what F&D reported at the time of the pizzeria’s opening. Observe the dates. Looking back, those February and March posts in 2020 induce a brief shudder, and probably always will.
