In Jeffersonville, at 716 E. 10th St., Hub Roti Café serves an interesting variation on the taco, a savory wrap using roti, an Indian flatbread that looks something like pita. Piled full with a range of filling choices, Hub Café’s roti are a satisfying and slightly different breakfast or lunch food.
Breakfast rotis can be had with eggs and crispy potato slices, black beans and jack cheese, sausage and egg, as well as with berry compote and sweet cream cheese or Nutella and roasted pecans. Lunch choices, many with clever names like The Rogue (chicken, garlic mayo, Brie and tomato) or the Tommy DeVito (pepperoni, salami, ham, capicola, olive tapenade) can be had with sides such as tater tots, ruffle potato salad, or salads, from a kale Caesar to a classic wedge.
Vegetarian and vegan options are also on the menu, one stuffed with zucchini, potatoes, black beans and kale, and another with roasted sweet potato, onion, red pepper and corn.
Desserts include pies, cupcakes and Coca-Cola cake. A limited selection of beer and wine is available, as well as soft drinks and coffee drinks such as café mocha.
The Hub Roti Café is open for breakfast, 7-11 a.m. weekdays; lunch is served 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and dinner hours weekdays are 5-9 p.m. Saturday hours continue lunch service until 6 p.m.
