Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 6 p.m., Yew Dell Botanical Gardens and Slow Food Bluegrass will host the 4th annual Farm to Table Dinner outdoors under a tent at Yew Dell, 6220 Old LaGrange Road, Crestwood.
Kathy Cary of Lilly’s A Kentucky Bistro will create the dinner, using ingredients for the evening’s menu from 12 local producers. Other participating sponsors who will contribute to the dinner include Old 502 Winery, Brown-Forman, Bluegrass Brewing Company and Blue Dog Bakery. Dozens of Dollars string band will provide the music.
Cary’s dinner will start with passed hors d’oeuvres (pickled vegetables and Capriole goat cheese on pumpernickel, bbq lamb shoulder on butter buns and rabbit rillettes in lettuce cups).
The first course will be an early summer vichyssoise, accompanied by Giovanni’s red pepper cheese and strawberry popcorn. The main course will be grilled flat iron steak, pork tenderloin with grilled peaches, pulled herbed chicken, or a vegetarian dish of cauliflower couscous. Dessert will be a lemon alive oil cake with citron glaze and strawberries.
The dinner will be $90 for Yew DellGardens and Slow Food members, $110 for non-members. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit Yew Dell and Slow Food Bluegrass. Call 241-4788 or go to www.yewdellgardens.org.
