Lucky’s Market, the newest outpost of a growing Boulder, Colorado-based “natural foods” chain, has opened in the Forum Center on North Hustbourne Pkwy.
The new store is the sixth one in the chain, with plans to expand to other markets in the Midwest and Rocky Mountains.
Lucky’s says it will source produce from local suppliers, and that it cures its own bacon in house. In addition to produce, meats, seafood and groceries, it also stocks green cleaning products and personal care items, nutritional supplements and essential oils. It also has a wine department.
The store will have a large organic foods selection, as well as gluten-free products. Lucky’s officially opened Wednesday, May 14, but will have a grand opening party from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 24. Activities will include music, and face painting for the kids. Food will include $1 pork brats, $1 hot dogs and $1 beverages. On May 25, the store will have a food fest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with local food vendors giving out samples.
Five percent of the store’s total net sales for the day will go to three local organizations on three different days — Whitney Young Elementary on May 20, T.T. Knight Middle School on May 27, and Westport Middle School on June 3.
Shoppers reusing shopping bags will get a 10-cent credit on their purchase, or a wooden dime to place in one of the three boxes designated to three local charities. Lucky’s will match the total donations after the quarter is over for double the giving.
The three local organizations that Lucky’s will be giving to in the first quarter are: The Arrow Fund, The Center for Women & Families and the Food Literacy Project.
