Recbar plans to open next month in the space that briefly was Bacon Bar at 10301 Taylorsville Rd. in Jeffersontown. While the new business will have a full bar and pub-style food, the emphasis in the early publicity is on the range of games and family entertain that will be on offer.
Owners Corey Sims and Tony Thomas will offer a panoply of fun things to do for all ages. There will be pool and ping-pong tables for old-school fun-seekers, and even skeeball for those who like their fun really retro. But there will be arcade-style electronic games too, for a full range of gaming systems – Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Super NES and so on.
But there will be space for card players and board game aficionados: Cards Against Humanity, Apples to Apples, Jenga and Cranium, according to a news release.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re a millennial who wants to challenge a buddy in Mortal Kombat or a baby boomer who wants to show the grandkids a thing or two about pinball,” Sims said in the release. “Recbar provides a social experience for everyone in a fun atmosphere.”
The bar will have a selection of craft beers and bourbons. The menu is still under construction, but is likely to include sandwiches, tacos and shareable appetizers.
