Scott Hand was a singular figure in Louisville brewing history, and it is fitting that Monnik Beer Co. (1036 E. Burnett Ave.) honors his memory each year.
Join us at Monnik (on Thursday, March 20th) to celebrate a very dear friend of ours, Scott Hand. We’ll be releasing a special beer we call the Zig Zag Wanderer, a barrel aged Belgian golden strong ale conditioned with apricots. Zig Zag Wanderer will be released both on tap and in cans.
We’ll also be running a set of cocktail specials that day, including the Scott’s Old Fashioned, an old fashioned made just the way he liked it, using rye whiskey and Demerara syrup, and a Cochaça daiquiri.
Scott was also a renowned connoisseur of club sandwiches, so we’ll be running the Scott’s Club Sandwich all day. Stop by tomorrow and celebrate this incredible man with us.
I’m confident that Scott would fully approve of my closing today’s post with an unabashed pitch for a wonderful beer developed by his onetime assistant and successor, Buddy McHagan.
