According to Michael L. Jones at Louisville Business First, management at Señor Iguanas Restaurantes Mexicanos has chosen to vacate its long-term location in Wilder Park near the track.

Señor Iguanas closes restaurant near Churchill Downs

The Señor Iguanas restaurant at 3105 S. Second St. in the Central Station shopping plaza closed at the end of August. The 33,000-square-foot shopping center is owned by Central Station KY LLC.

The Señor Iguanas restaurants are operated by the VIVA Hospitality Group, which is owned by Juan and Roza Segoviano. The company has Señor Iguanas locations at 5637 Outer Loop in South Louisville and 1415 Broadway St. in Clarksville, Indiana.

Keith Labelle, a marketing director for VIVA Hospitality Group, told Business First the Central Station location was closed because the company’s lease had expired.

As an addendum, Jones mentions news from May, 2022 that the Segovianos were planning to build a new building in downtown New Albany at a vacant corner on Scribner Drive and W. Market. Speaking as a resident of New Albany, there has been no construction activity at this site, at least yet. Maybe soon.
