Louvino, 1606 Bardstown Rd., which has become noted for its popularity for “girls’ night out” get-togethers, is capitalizing on that reputation by having Brandon Allen, winemaker at SLOdown Wines, tend bar tonight, Thursday, , Aug. 13 from 6-9 p.m.
SLOdown Wines is noted for promoting the unpretentiousness of its wines, and its slightly outrageous marketing. (One of its mottoes is “We make delicious wines while wearing mediocre suits and little to no underwear, it is a lifestyle…get over it,” and a promotional video claims their wine “goes great with pretty much anything.”
The small company currently markets two wines, a red blend they call Sexual Chocolate, and a chardonnay, Broken Dreams. Both will be available at $12 and $10 a glass , respectively, tonight. One of the founders of the company, Bo Silliman, once studied premed at U of L, according to a story in The San Francisco Chronicle.
And bizmonthly described Sexual Chocolate as “a blend of 60% Syrah, 30% Zinfandel and 10% Petite Sirah. This full-bodied, fruit-forward wine exhibits aromas and flavors of blackberries, plums, blueberries, black pepper and yes, even a hint of chocolate.”
