On Tuesday, Six Forks Burger Company’s owner Troy King took to social media to announce his restaurant’s closing.

The Courier Journal’s Amanda Hancock followed up: This popular burger spot in Schnitzelburg abruptly closes after 3 years in business.

King said the decision came after weeks of discussions with his wife and key employees.

“This restaurant just doesn’t fit our lifestyle,” he said. “I equate it to an ex-wife that pays me alimony and it’s good money.”

The money, though, “is no longer worth the headache,” King said.

King told Hancock that the Six Forks building will become headquarters for his Velvet Couch Hospitality Group.
