Tacos aren’t just for Tuesdays. Our fall issue will be out on the stands September 1st and will feature a column all about tacos, so we’re thrilled to share that Louisville taco fans can throw down and throw back a few Saturday August 18 for a good cause. Tacos and Tequila supports Kosair Charities, but the $50 advance tickets are almost sold out. Tickets include all food, drink and parking, and will be $60 at the door if any are left.
It’s all going down from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Regency at the Oxmoor Country Club, 9000 Limehouse Lane, but the tacos will only be served until 8 p.m. The Taco and Tequila Throwdown web site says that thousands of tacos will be served from chefs at local restaurants like The Block, Waylon’s Feed and Firewater, Merle’s Whiskey Kitchen, Against the Grain, Doc Crowe’s and others. While other drinks will be available, the main spirits for this event will be Mexican beers and tequila served up in margaritas, cocktails or straight. Old 503 Sin Gria is also a featured beverage. While you throw back your tacos and tequila, you’ll be able to enjoy music from a DJ and live mariachi performers.
