The July edition of the late night Beats & Eats event at Decca’s Cellar Lounge, 812 E. Market St., will be Thursday, July 23, from 10:30 p.m.-2 a.m. The “beats” will be provided by DJ Ryan Rugger spinning West Coast & Dirty South Hip Hop. The “eats” will be by chef Anne Pettry and her crew, inspired by the street foods of Latin America.
Among those dishes will be things such as duck mole tamales, choripan (Argentinian grilled chorizo sandwich), lengua tacos and esquites (Mexican grilled corn salad). For those not up on their Spanish or their familiarity with honest-to-dios Mexican food, “lengua” means “tongue,” a much appreciated cut of beef in real taco joints.
The Cellar Lounge barkeeps will provide drinks specials such Maized and Confused (mezcal, rye mash, corn, basil, salt, lime), $2 Mexican Beer, $3 Tequila Shots and the“Five Dolla Holla”—a shot of bourbon and a can of beer for $5.
Seating is on a first-come first-served basis. Dishes $8 apiece. For further info go to The Cellar’s website.
