Get ready for a fast paced night of fun at Copper and Kings Distillery, 1121 E. Washington St., this Friday with “Cocktails and Couture” — a night of food, fashion, shopping, comedy and musical entertainment. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the fun runs from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door and are $20 for individuals or $35 for a couple.
This event comes to you from event producer Tawana Bain and her partner Andrea Meriweather. We spoke with Bain, who also produces ongoing fashion events at Mediterranean bar and grill Vis A Vis, and she said this is a little grander scale than their usual events, because it’s the end of the year bash to support Charity of Love Increasing Faith and Hope (CLIFH), a non-profit that gives support to fatherless children.
Cocktails and Couture schedule for food, fashion , dating fun in Louisville
The night will start off at 6 p.m. with Copper and Kings cocktails and small bites by Gigi Bites (included in ticket price) with relationship columnist Mindy Honey (LEO, Playboy, Teen Vogue) and community activist Ravon Churchill as emcees. The menu includes Spanakopita, Mini Quiche, Meatballs, Veggie Spread, Cheese platter, Batch Tails, Mac n Cheese, and Bacon Balls.
This opening reception will be followed by live entertainment from R&B artist Junior Jackson. Then, everyone will move to the second floor for a fashion show by All for Men Threads.
“We typically do a male and female fashion show, but this is our end of the year bash sponsored by All for Men Threads, so we are focusing on the men,” said Bain. “Ten males will be on the floor in fashion looks, engaging with the audience, and all eyes will be on them.”
Everyone will move to the third level of the building at 7 p.m. for a pop up fashion shop and open enrollment with Ideal Bartending School before returning to the first level for a dating panel made up of singles and couples. Audience members can ask the panel whatever they want and enjoy the candid answers. The dating panel is hosted by Prenashee Shiffawn, a dating/relationship and social media personality and owner of Shee Said, He Said.
“We try not to make it [the dating panel] a signature part of the night, “ Bain explained. “But we tried it last time and it went very well. We try to include one newlywed, a veteran wed, and single on the panel.”
After a short break, comedians Jason English and Tara Crush-Cooley will close things out with a comedy show. D.J. Samosa will also be entertaining throughout the night, and Bain said she’s very excited to have female D.J. because they usually feature males.
