Derby season is upon us, and revelers can get a good helping of tradition, brunch and history at the 41st Annual Derby Breakfast from Farm to Fork Catering on Saturday, May 4 from 9:00 a.m. till noon at the Farmington Historic Plantation, 3033 Bardstown Rd. Individual tickets at $180 each, or a table of 10 for $1650, and are now on sale online; proceeds support the Historic Homes Foundation’s mission to preserve and display Kentucky’s historic sites like Farmington Historic Plantation, Thomas Edison House, and Whitehall.
The Kentucky Proud sit-down brunch by Farm to Fork will feature bluegrass music from the Misty Mountain String Band, an open bar (with cocktails like Ketel one, basil syrup, & cucumber Phocus; bloody marys with Farm to Fork house-made mix; and a Blade & Bow old fashioned), and the following menu:
Assorted baked goods from scratch, a fresh fruit display, seasonal green salad (salad greens, strawberries, asparagus, toasted almonds, strawberry white balsamic vinaigrette), bourbon marinated pork tenderloin, seasonal Farmhouse chutney, scrambled eggs with chives (locally sourced farm fresh), and a biscuit station (made from scratch buttermilk biscuits from locally sourced Weisenberger Mill flour and JD Country buttermilk) with an assortment of spreads, whipped butters, jams and jellies.
Also, local pastured and raised bacon, sausage gravy (also a vegetarian gravy), shrimp and Weisenberger Mill grits, grits and braised greens, breakfast hash with vegetables and fresh herbs (vegetarian and gluten-free), and assorted Derby inspired bite sized desserts.
