The owners of 60 West Bistro & Martini Bar announced Friday, Feb. 27 that they will close their operation at 3939 Shelbyville Rd. in St. Matthews as of Saturday, Feb. 28., after a “going away” party Friday, capped by the last $5 Martini Night.
The business–in the corner of the stocky building that originally was a Bacon’s department store, and then Burdorf’s furniture and home decor, and now houses a Drake’s bar and restaurant–opened as Cafe Emilie in 2002 before enlarging to 60 West Bistro.
Owner Charles Knieriem explained in an open letter that he will become a partner in a BoomBozz Craft Pizza and Taphouse after a complete remodel that will house a larger bar (featuring 26 local and regional craft beers) and an expanded patio. Renovation work will begin immediately, with the goal of opening by mid-April. The new Taphouse will also offer delivery along with 7 days a week of lunch and dinner business.
