As a reminder, Atlantic No. 5 (605 W. Main Street) closed in May, 2021.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closing of Atlantic No. 5”

Three months later, Wiltshire Pantry is preparing the space for renewed use as a bakery and café, aiming for a mid-October opening. WDRB has the story.

A beloved Highlands bakery is moving into a prime downtown location on West Main Street. Wiltshire Pantry owner Susan Hershberg said she plans to open another bakery and café in the former Atlantic No. 5 spot at 605 W. Main St. this fall. Hershberg had been looking to expand to the downtown corridor for a while and was waiting for the right location and opportunity.

Hershberg also left Louisville Business First’s Haley Cawthon with an emblematic snapshot in words about the state of the restaurant business as it is, right now.

“The spot is just gorgeous, it’s got that beautiful cast iron storefront… it just has so much potential. I think it’s a perfect fit for us — I mean, honestly, this is not really an opportune time to be looking at expansion and opening another entity. I’m tired, I really am, and there’s all this talk of labor shortages and whatnot, but it just seems to me like it’s too good of a fit for us to walk away from.”
