In the ten years that Caffe Classico, 2144 Frankfort Ave., has been in operation, it has never had TV screens anywhere on the premises, owner Tommy Mudd proudly said. But now he has rented a very large screen TV, connected it to a cable channel that runs all the games of the World Cup soccer championship, and will show all the games.
“The World Cup is the only event that would make me get a TV in here,” Mudd said. “I have an international customer base. People from all over the world come in here, so I thought showing the World Cup matches would be a good thing.” The TV is in the back room, where live entertainment, such as flamenco guitarists, usually entertain on weekends, so if you are not a confirmed futbol fanatic, you can still enjoy a meal in relative peace.
Posters on the walls of the restaurant tout the games, and there is a game bracket beside them, to keep track of the complicated tournament that will run through the title game July 13. Mudd has a selection of international beers on hand to please every national palate.
