A fire broke out early Sunday morning at Superchefs restaurant on Fairfax Ave. in St. Matthews. Firefighters responded and fought the blaze in freezing weather. Both Superchefs and a nail salon adjoining were damaged by the fire. No one was in the businesses at the time, and no one was injured.
Chef Maria’s Greek Deli and Silvio’s Italian Restaurant are located in the same strip at 106 and 104 Fairfax Ave., respectively. It is unclear at this writing if either establishment suffered any damage. Cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
Insider Louisville reported that, upon learning of the fire, Joella’s Hot Chicken on Frankfort Ave. announced it would donate a portion of its sales on Sunday to APRON Inc.— a nonprofit that helps restaurant workers in need — to help the affected establishments in their time of need.
