Zanzabar, the bar, restaurant and music venue at 2100 S. Preston St. plans to expand its space, and Epic Sammich Co.plans to open a second restaurant in Richmond, near the Eastern Kentucky University campus.
Zanzabar owners, brothers Antz and Jon Wettig, plan to connect into and renovate the space next door to the bar to house the expanding live music component of their business. The current stage area will be used exclusively as restaurant space.
The expanded space will be able to fit more patrons for shows, and allow for booking of bigger-name acts. It would also allow for better use of the restaurant space, for those who wish to eat, but not attend the show.
Dustin Staggers and his partner Eric Morris, are planning on a second location of their successful sandwich concept at 236 W. Main St. in Richmond.
Staggers, who also runs Roux and America. The Diner., had a vision for multiple locations if his Epic Sammich concept took off, for the restaurant’s simple concept is easy to replicate.
The location near EKU became available, a prior restaurant space that had all the necessary infrastructure. He and Morris are also looking at Bowling Green and Lexington for future expansion.
