We know you can darn well celebrate the repeal of Prohibition in the confines of your own home this Thursday, but sipping adult beverages is always more fun when done in a crowd
—especially when you can be among a group that surely will ask, “Why did ANYONE ever think outlawing liquor was a good idea?” A spirited debate over the good and evils of spirits is always better when fueled by spirits, no?
So, should you choose to celebrate in public, consider these two options:
Bourbon’s Bistro in Clifton (2255 Frankfort Ave.) is selling 25 cent two-bit whiskey shots and 25 cent two-bit bites to celebrate the reversal of the 18th Amendment and death of its partner, the Volstead Act.
Chris Morris, Woodford Reserve Master Distiller, will serve as guest bartender for the evening, which is way cool!
The party begins at 6 p.m. and will include Prohibition-era movies played throughout the evening in its bar area. Prohibition and flapper-era costumes are strongly encouraged, and a $50 Bourbons Bistro gift certificate will be awarded for the best costume.

For the cerebral drinker, Distilled Spirits Epicenter’s Moonshine University will present a special “Spirits of Prohibition” class for spirits enthusiasts and history buffs.
The two-hour course will run from 6 to 8 p.m. will focus on bourbon, gin and cocktails of the prohibition era. In addition to the spirited sharing of history and colorful anecdotes about those dark years, participants will enjoy a distillery tour and sensory evaluations of spirits and cocktails. Hors d’oeuvre also will be provided by Bourbon’s Bistro.
