At some point in mid-2021, when my employer was scouting around town for tables and chairs, he heard of a plan whereby the employees of the late, lamented Eiderdown (983 Goss Ave) would continue running the restaurant as a cooperative. Nothing came of it.
But as one trail grows cold, a fresh scoop arrives, via LOUtoday at Facebook.
The old Eiderdown restaurant is looking a little different these days. 🌹
Word on the street is that the owners of Toasty’s Tavern + New Wave Burritos are opening up another concept at this historic spot in Germantown (983 Goss Ave.)
While we can’t say for sure, our guess is that the new restaurant’s name, Red Bud Dining Room, is a nod to Red Bud Liquors that operated in the building years before.
There’s no open date yet, but its Google page says Redbud Dining Room will have “classy eats and good times.”
LOUtoday’s revelation corroborates a Louisville Restaurants Forum post from late March.
Red Bud Dining Room replacing Eiderdown

Red Bud Dining Room, which is owned by the folks who own Toasty’s Tavern, will be opening in the old Eiderdown spot at 983 Goss Ave. I can’t find a website or Facebook page yet. The name apparently comes from Red Bud Liquors, which once operated in that building.
We’ll keep an eye out. Something will come of it—or not.
May 27 update: The Courier Journal’s Dahlia Ghabour corroborates the preceding and adds quite a lot more.
