A new Mexican restaurant featuring tacos is opening tomorow, Friday, April 8, after a brief shakedown soft opening nights earlier this week.
Lorena Casas-Ostos, who came to Louisville seven years ago from Monterrey, Mexico, has turned her avocation of cooking for large parties of friends into her new vocation as owner of Louisville’s newest Mexican restaurant, Mexa Tacos, at 37012 Lexington Rd. in St. Matthews.
The fast-casual restaurant features a list of signature steak tacos that guests can customize with house-made salsas, guacamole, peppers and other toppings, such as the special house queso made with poblano peppers. Casas-Ostos is a steak taco purist, so don’t look for chicken or ground meat options here.
Every taco is made to order, with the steak started on the grill after the order is placed, and grilled in the open kitchen. Tortillas, too, are freshly made, as are the margaritas. Mexican beers are also available.
Mexa Tacos is in the space that until recently was 15 Ounce Premium Denim, in the retail row at the corner of Lexington Road and Bauer Avenue in St. Matthews.
