March is Women’s History Month.

Women’s History Month had its origins as a national celebration in 1981 when Congress passed Pub. L. 97-28 which authorized and requested the President to proclaim the week beginning March 7, 1982 as “Women’s History Week” (and) since 1995, presidents have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as “Women’s History Month.” These proclamations celebrate the contributions women have made to the United States and recognize the specific achievements women have made over the course of American history in a variety of fields.

International Women’s Day is Monday, March 8.

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality.

In conjunction with Let’s Talk & Dine Together, a nationwide International Women’s Day event, Kentucky Duchess is partnering with Honeywood Restaurant in Lexington for a Kentucky Duchess Snack Queen Pop Up, bringing together women from Central Kentucky to cook at Honeywood on Monday, March 8 (5:30 – 8:30 p.m.)

Kentucky Duchess is a “league of ladies who own and operate within the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s food economy,” founded by women to celebrate women in the Kentucky restaurant industry.

There will be two ways to enjoy the Kentucky Duchess Snack Queen Pop Up, and both will be available for pickup/delivery, with reservations for the dine-in option going through Open Table.
