On May 14, Ostra (1758 Frankfort Avenue) threw in the towel, although co-owners Mike Brady and Chef Adam Burress left a door slightly ajar.
But then yesterday an announcement came at Instagram: “Chris deRome has decided to open up this beautiful restaurant again. We will start small and thoughtful very soon.”
As Paul Harvey used to say, Louisville Business First has the rest of the story.
Prior to the reopening announcement, Brady told me they were “cutting their losses” and selling the restaurant at a steep discount in May.
“It breaks my heart. Adam and I love this place — we were nearly in tears last night,” he said at the time. “This was supposed to be a fun side project for me and Chef Burress and it’s turned out to be the biggest pain in our butts. We’re just cutting our losses and we’re willing to sell it at like 20% of our investment. We’re just going to get out.”
