Adrienne & Co. and MESA, A Collaborative Kitchen, 216 Pearl St., are pairing up and looking for Kentuckiana’s most talented young bakers for MESA’s first-ever kids’ baking competition. Children ages 8 to 13-years-old who want to put their kitchen skills to the ultimate test are invited to enter by the March 3 deadline.
Adrienne & Co. owner Adrienne Holland and chef Liz Martino will judge the event’s three rounds and determine the baking champion. The grand prize winner will be featured on the cover of Extol Magazine’s June issue and debut his or her winning creation at Extol’s June launch party. The winner will also receive a $100 gift card to MESA’s kid events and a gift tote filled with baking goodies. The entry fee is $30 per child. For more information and contest rules, or to register, visit www.mesachefs.com.
All bakers who enter will be asked to present their favorite version of sweet bread to the judges. From there, select contestants will move forward to bake in front of a live audience at MESA that will also stream online. Guests in attendance, the featured judges and online audience will vote to select competitors to move to the next rounds. Round one will feature cookies, round two will be doughnuts and the finale will be cupcakes. MESA will provide ingredients for each of the three rounds and will include a surprise ingredient to challenge contestants. Bakers will be judged for technique, flavor and presentation. Tickets are available for purchase online for the three live rounds scheduled for March 15, March 22 and March 29 at MESA.
