Shrove Tuesday, Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, this year is Feb. 28, but 610 Magnolia will be celebrating Thursday, Feb. 23, to get people in the mood. Also on Thursday Feb. 23, Lilly’s, 1147 Bardstown Rd., will host a wine dinner inspired by Chef/owner Kathy Cary’s recent trip to Costa Rica.
The 610 Magnolia event will be a family style dinner served at 6:30 p.m. in the Wine Studio across the street from the restaurant at 610 W. Magnolia Ave. The menu will include a hearty and spicy chicken andouille gumbo, shrimp boil, crawfish étouffée, beignets and more. Inspired by her recent Costa Rican food tour , Kathy Cary’s menu features vegetable empanadas with sweet chili slaw and avocado salsa; duo of rock shrimp ceviche and chili relleno paired with Torres las Mulas Sauvignon Blanc; curried chicken with coconut milk and black beans and rice served with Casilero del Diablo Chardonnay; guajillo-braised short ribs with polenta, and pozole accompanied by Trapiche Broquel Malbec; and for dessert, dulce de leche-chocolate rolade served with Privada Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon. The dinner and wine pairings will be $60 .per person.
