In 2010, (Norman) Reedus began playing Daryl Dixon in the AMC television series The Walking Dead, a horror drama about a group of friends and family members who fight to survive in a violent apocalyptic world populated with flesh-eating zombies and the few surviving humans. The character was not originally in the comic book series of the same name, but was created specifically for Reedus after his audition.
You can count me among those who didn’t realize Backside at Whiskey Row had closed, but having acknowledged this departure, there’ll be a new arrival at 108 W. Washington St. (referred to as “Whiskey Alley” because it lies behind Whiskey Row).
Michael L. Jones, who regularly laps the field at Louisville Business First, undertakes to explain the decidedly unique back story of Nic & Norman’s. But first, Jones helpfully ties up the loose ends: “Developer Julie ‘Valle’ Jones said the Backside was let out of its lease several months ago.”

‘Walking Dead’ actor, producer to open Nic & Norman’s in Downtown Louisville
A nationally known casual dining restaurant with some famous backers is coming to Downtown Louisville in early June.
Nic & Norman’s will be located at 108 W. Washington St. in Whiskey Alley, which sits behind Whiskey Row near the KFC Yum Center.
The restaurant is named after Greg Nicotero, a producer and special effect makeup artist on the television show “The Walking Dead,” and Norman Reedus, who starred as Darryl Dixon in the series.
Cynthiana, Kentucky native Robert Kirkman, the co-creator of the comic book series based on “The Walking Dead,” is also a partner in Nic & Norman’s.
And of course a tidbit about the eatery’s food bites.
Nic & Norman’s offers Southern-inspired food and cocktails. Popular items include the fried fish sandwich, a Coca Cola-braised pork shank, meat loaf and burgers. Prices range from $8 to $29, according to its Lexington menu.
