APRON Inc., a nonprofit that provides financial assistance to employees of local independent restaurants in need of help with emergency expenses, will benefit from a dinner Sunday, July 10, at The Olmsted. Dubbed “A Taste of Independents,” the dinner will showcase the diversity and cooperation of Louisville’s independent restaurants.
The Sunday afternoon event at The Olmstead will feature tastings of dishes from more than 30 of Louisville’s independent restaurants, a silent auction and the Robbie Bartlett Duo providing live music. At the event the fourth annual presentation of the Corbett Award for service to the independent restaurant community will be presented.
The annual event is a major fundraiser for APRON, a non-profit with no paid staff that strives to give direct help to restaurant industry workers in need. This last year, for instance, APRON helped 25 employees of SuperChefs and Maria’s Greek Deli, with rent and utilities when a fire destroyed both restaurants.
