With Halloween only a week away, everyone must have costumes all planned and ready to go. Once you are all dressed up, here are a couple of places to go for dinner.
8UP, at the top of the Hilton Garden Inn at the corner of Fourth and Chestnut, will celebrate with a Mad Masquerade under the moonlight on the dining patio (weather permitting) Saturday, Oct. 31.
For a $20 cover charge, Halloween partiers can listen to DJ Alex Bell, imbibe at the complimentary open bar featuring signature cocktails including the Blood and Sand, Autumn Nip, and Bubbling Berries and enjoy passed appetizers from 8-9 p.m. A costume contest with $1000 in cash prizes begins at 11 p.m.
Reservations recommended; call (502) 631-4180 or go to 8uplouisville.com or call 502.631.4180. The dining room will remain open for dinner service.
Over the 9, 120 S. Tenth St., will offer a two-part Halloween event.
A 5-course pop-up dinner cooked up by chefs Jeff Harman and Lawrence Weeks of LocalsOnly and Griffin Paulin and Ming Pu of After Midnight will be served in Over the 9’s upstairs event space.
The cost is $55 and will include a seasonally-inspired menu. Drink pairings, provided by Dante Wheat of LocalsOnly and Jeremy Johnson of Meta, will cost an additional $25. Diners receive free entry to the LOxAFT12 Hallows’ Eve Bash. For the After Party only the cost will be $5.
The hottest Halloween ticket, though, is sure to be the Halloween dinner Madeleine Dee is offering at Fond, 2520 Frankfort Ave. Her chef’s table holds only 12, and everyone reserving a seat for the Oct. 31 dinner “must wear a costume. For serious. It’s a requirement,” to quote Dee directly.
Her menu: Radish and kimchi dumpling with black sesame sauce and gingered carrot puree; bulgogi with tempura pears; smoked octopus terrine with braised shallots and kimchi sauce; ramen with pink lady ribs and quail eggs and for dessert, blood orange ice cream, dark chocolate cake, toasted marshmallow puffs, and red wine salted caramel sauce.
Price for the dinner (which is BYOB) is $75, but if all 12 seats get filled, it will be only $50. Call (502) 727-3631 or go to FondofLouisville.com.
