Many changes are under way at Louisville International Airport, from runway improvements to additional escalators. And travelers will have a wider range of food choices, including a few locally-focused options when renovations are completed in the next year or so.
Those local options will include a Comfy Cow ice cream stand out in the pre-security area, and out in Concourse B a Coals Artisan Pizza will be baking in one of their signature coal-fired ovens, as reported in a recent Louisville Business First story.
A major makeover will replace the Woodford Reserve Lounge with a library-themed restaurant and lounge to be called Book & Bourbon Southern Kitchen, offering Southern comfort food–think fried green tomato Benedict and short rib hush puppies–a 100+ bourbon inventory, and a classic craft cocktail list.
Joining Book & Bourbon and Comfy Cow in the pre-security area will be Starbucks and KFC. In the rotunda past the security checkpoint a Starbucks Evenings will serve craft beer, wines and a health-conscious menu, as well as its usual coffee drinks, and Bourbon Academy Tasting Room will feature an elevated bar, premium bourbons and tasting flights served with an iPad that gives distiller information and history and tasting notes specific to each pour. A limited bar menu will also be available.
Joining Coals Pizza in Concourse A will be a Chili’s and a Smashburger franchise, along with a new concept called The Local Rustic Market which will have the focus of healthful, freshly prepared food options for travelers on the go.
