Thursday, Jan. 15, 6:30 p.m., Varanese, 2106 Frankfort Ave., will start its 2015 series of special dinners with a bourbon dinner featuring the Bourbons of Russell’s Reserve. The event will be another celebration of Master Distiller Jimmy Russell’s 60th anniversary in the Bourbon industry, highlighted by an exclusive sampling of the Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary Bourbon, made especially for the occasion. Jimmy Russell will be the special guest.
Other labels to be sampled during the dinner will be Russell’s Reserve Rye 6 year, Russell’s Reserve 10 Year Small Batch, and Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel.

The special menu will include house-made pastrami carpaccio with Bourbon whole grain mustard; grilled frisee salad with confit butternut squash and maple-bourbon vinaigrette; brown sugar glazed ham with red eye gravy served with spicy bacon-grilled red cabbage and yams; and butter pecan ice cream over sugar-fried flat bread, Bourbon anglaise, salted caramel, and brûléed bananas
