610 Magnolia’s Wine Studio, across Magnolia street from the restaurant proper at 610 W. Magnolia Ave., is the site of the special events that periodically come on the radar of the cognoscenti. In March, diners looking to sample 610’s culinary riches at a slightly lower price point might consider the upcoming Pasta Party, or the Beer vs. Wine dinner later in the month.
Saturday March 14, at 6:30 p.m. is the date of the first Pasta Party of 2015. The evening begins with a flight of the evening’s suggested wines with passed appetizers. The dinner of house-made pastas and other Italian-inspired dishes will, as usual, be served communal, family-style.
Cost of dinner, appetizers and wine flight will be $40. Wines with the dinner are additional.
Wednesday, March 25 at 6:30 p.m. the 610 chefs will create a four course menu, each course to be served with a sampling of one wine and one beer, with the diners voting on which pairing works best for them with the dish.
This friendly beer vs. wine competition focuses on each dish’s acidity and sweetness level, and the concept of the dinner is to challenge the notion that only wines are appropriate for pairing with food.
The 4-course dinner with a beer and a wine pairing per course will be $65. For either dinner, call (502) 636-0783.
