After a long and sometimes fraught renovation of the old Baxter Station space at 1201 Payne St., Ciao Italian Restaurant is set to open today.
Ciao, at the corner of Payne and Cooper streets, will be led in the kitchen by Chef Luigi Gelsomini, who owns Luigi’s Pizzeria on West Main St. downtown. The renovated space will seat 88 diners in a modern, eclectic atmosphere, and be open for lunch and dinner, with dishes at moderate price levels. The menu will feature traditional Italian dishes as well as some less familiar to Americans.
