When RYE opened a few years ago at 900 E. Market St., it experimented for a while with lunch service, but discontinued it. Owner Michael Kusman-Trager also experimented with a lunch place on Main St., Atlantic No. 5, before selling that operation. Now, RYE is entering the lunch trade again, this time at the RYE location, but during lunch service, it will take on the persona of LOX, which opens today, Thursday, Sept. 14.
LOX will offer house-cured salmon on a bagel sandwich, a roast beef sandwich, salads and sides such as black pepper potato chips and smoked bacon, as well as mid-day cocktails and champagne. Party platters and office catering will be available.
“Just as RYE has become a staple in NuLu for dinner and cocktails, we envision LOX as a go-to destination for Louisville’s lunch crowd,” restaurant partner Thor Morgan said in a news release. “Our head chef Zach Chancey and our entire team have developed a menu that is a true labor of love. As RYE celebrates a milestone five-year anniversary, we are proud to build on our success with a new lunch concept that promises to be fresh, creative, and unique.”
RYE has been closed for a short time to allow for renovations that go along with the new lunch concept, including new lighting, painting, and art installations. The result will be a more relaxed atmosphere, according to the press release.
LOX will serve lunch 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday through Monday.
