On Saturday, Aug. 20 from 6 – 8:30 p.m. the South Louisville Community Ministries will host the 7th annual Taste of South Louisville at Churchill Downs Millionaires Row. About 20 Louisville restaurants from the popular Vietnam Kitchen and Little Jerusalem to lesser known Southside businesses such as Franco’s Restaurant and Khalil’s will be featured.
Levy Restaurant at Churchill Downs will be represented with a crepe with bourbon ice cream topped with bourbon sauce. Other vendors include Gumby’s Catering, Fairdale Pizza & Pub, Bill’s Famous Cheese Spreads, Sunergos Coffee, Tuscany Italian Restaurant, Jimbo’s Bar-B-Que, Rubbies Southside Grill and Bar, Seven-Up Snapple and Shack in the Back BBQ.
Proceeds from the event benefit South Louisville Community Ministries’ programs of assistance for South Louisville residents in need. The money raised helps funds programs that offer South Louisville residents food, financial assistance, job coaching and family and marriage counseling.
Advance tickets are on sale by mail or at South Louisville Community Ministries office on W. Ashland Avenue. Adult tickets for ages 12 and up are $25; children ages 5-11 are $5; children 4-years old and under are free. At the door, tickets will be $30.
