It will, of course, be a special TV showing, the episode of Ovation Network’s show “Southern Uncovered,” with Matt and Ted Lee of Charleston, SC, who visited Louisville a few months back and interviewed on camera chefs and owners at Seviche, Mayan Café, Sunergos Coffee, Bourbon Barrel Foods and Decca. They also toured NuLu for a discussion of the neighborhood’s recent rebirth as a restaurant destination.
The episode airs at 8 p.m. July 5. The viewing party will begin at 7, with food and beverage service available. The lounge area at Seviche has a large high-def screen, and employees from the featured businesses will be there to see themselves on screen. Everyone else is invited as well.
The Lee Brothers were recently back in town to partner with Edward Lee for two presentations of a cooking demonstration and discussion of Southern food traditions and contemporary inspirations and offshoots of those traditions at Actors Theatre. They called their presentation “The Boiled Peanut Hour,” after which they served the dishes they made on stage–pimento cheese, deviled egg salad with shrimp, succotash soup–to the audience.
